These injuries will affect their mobility and often cause a lot of pain. However there is good news, there are plenty of places in the area that give treatments through sports massage and other treatments in order to alleviate the tension along with the pain that comes with a lot of these injuries.
Four of the most commonly seen and treated sports injuries around Brisbane are described below: Jumper's Knee or Patellar tendinitis – This will usually affect the knees of those athletes that do a regular amount of jumping especially for those who might play volleyball or basketball. This particular injury can be caused when the tendon of the patella in the knee starts deteriorating. The symptoms can range in its severity and it can include anything from stiffness in the knees to very achy knees after exercise and weakness in the calves along with mild to severe knee pain. Pulled Hamstrings – These are extremely common sports injuries found around Brisbane as well as all over the world inn a vast variety of sports. A pulled hamstring is tearing the muscle in the thigh and this can be quite painful. The hamstrings are the muscles that help a person bend their legs and they can actually be pulled very easily when an athlete over extends their legs like when they are sprinting or leaping for example. Depending upon the extent of the injury often times pulled hamstrings can be treated with some sort of physical therapy and the RICE routine which is Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. Tennis Elbow – Most common sports injury among tennis players or any athlete that plays any type of racquet sport. This injury is characterized by any problems that arise when lifting the elbow and there is pain around and in the elbow itself. Generally joint mobilization techniques are used to help alleviate the discomfort caused from this injury. Rotator Cuff Injury – This is an injury where the joints and the muscles operating the should have received too much wear and tear. For example the constant movements in from swimming strokes or baseball pitching can cause a lot of strain on these muscles. The severity will depend upon how much strain has been placed on these joints and muscles. The normal symptoms of this injury can include a reduced mobility of the overall shoulder as well as the upper are. Therapy such as massage can often help to alleviate the tension, help reduce the pain and eventually restore the mobility to the area.
